MATT JOSS
Technologist, Anthropologist, Artist
Computer Science and Policy, Law, and Social Thought graduate of Rice University. Passionate about building democratic infrastructure that can adapt to new technologies.
ABOUT
Since the beginning of my career, I’ve focused on distilling problems down to their core, and iterating off prototypes to create beautiful solutions. As a software engineer and data scientist I am passionate about elegant and accessible technology, but am particularly interested in the unintended social implications of new technologies. I aspire to know how we can orient tech development to actively support democracy for centuries to come.

My background is broad for a reason - I love having a wide variety of experiences to draw from, but I'll also be the first to point out the fallibility of my own ideas. I believe in an intersectional approach to problem solving and am dedicated to making the world a kinder place.

OTHER WEBSITES
When we started better tech opinions in late 2021, we were fed up with the rising tide of anti-tech opinions circulating the no-coin communities, and the disconnect between citizens and the surveillance devices mapping their lives. We started BTO to forge a connection between the coiners and the savages, in order to inform before the metaverse replaces reality for good.
Join us as we answer the tech world’s greatest questions, explore the latest new gadgets, and decentralize oppression.
